Participating students commit to the Project for at least one semester, with the option to continue volunteering throughout their full-time university studies. Volunteers visit specific wards where they are responsible for facilitating one of the offered activities and writing follow-up session notes for the ward staff. Strict adherence to ethical principles, such as confidentiality, patient anonymity, and professional conduct, is an absolute standard. Any challenges or questions can be addressed during regular supervision sessions led by psychologists or during peer intervision meetings within our volunteer teams.
Volunteers visiting the wards are supported by student coordinators. Some coordinators manage direct communication with ward staff and facility leadership, while others provide day-to-day guidance on activity facilitation. Students can also get involved behind the scenes – whether by joining our PR and communications team, organizing anti-stigma initiatives, or coordinating educational events.
Currently, our volunteer placements are open to students of psychology and general medicine. Looking ahead, we plan to extend these ward-based opportunities to students from other helping professions and related fields of study.
